Yangon, Myanmar
We're in Yangon now, and everything has been going smoothly so far.
Yangon is much more laid back than Bangkok, which is really nice.
There's a number of reasons for that; for one, I think that Yangon is
less dense than Bangkok. But also, the government has banned
motorcycles in Yangon for security reasons, so you're not constantly
dodging them like you are in Bangkok.

The trip has been great fun so far; we have a good group and a good
guide, and Myanmar is a really interesting place. Unfortunately I
don't have time to write more about the trip right now, but I'll fill
in more details (and post some pictures) later.

Glad to hear it's going well! Can't wait to hear more! :)
Daina here. Yep I managed to find Ben at our Bangkok hostel on an obscure alleyway lined with street vendors peddling assorted ears and fried intestines or something. Luckily there was lots of humidity, which made us appreciate the AC in our hostel room and the SkyTrain rail. Had an amazing time at the Bangkok weekend market.
Myanmar is one of the most beautiful places I've seen! We had a fantastic journey on the back of a rugged benched pickup truck up a jagged windy mountain road in the rainforest, clutching to our backpacks and the benches for dear life, whilst being drenched with pouring rain.. followed by a steep 45 minute hike to the top of the mountain, where a peculiarly resting golden boulder (with of course a golden stupa on top of it) is a huge mecca for Buddhists around the world, a place called Kyaiktiyo.
Anyway.. hello to everyone!
Daina
